Is it OK that my daughter has suddenly fallen in love with the color black and is calling herself scene?

She doesn't seem depressed, she behaves the same as always, but her style has completely changed to black (not completely black, she throws in some neon colors into her outfits). Should I be concerned? And what does scene mean?

I'm 16 going on 17 nd I personally change my style all the time. Why parents assume nonsense? I have no answer! But just let her be her she's trying to find what she likes.

There should be no cause of concern with the change in your daughter's style. This could be because of a phase of life that she is going through. However, if you suspect that there is something more to this change, you could talk to her about it.

it could be the people she is hanging out with if she has started hanging with a new crowd she could be trying to fit in

No! You should love your daughter no matter how she dresses
Although the way someone dresses does define the person in a way, but that is not completely true
As a girl in high school, ill tell you that it could be just a phase, girls change their style of clothing all the time. At one point I stretched my earlobes because I thought it was kool! But I learned it had some serious consequences lol, and stopped!
She could just think that the way "scene" kids dress is cool, and perhaps she wants to fit in
Nevertheless, don't worry about it!

Although her newfound love is nothing to lose sleep over, I suggest you show her new colors that compliment her or you are comfortable with her wearing (though I would refrain from telling her your motives) I'll be 17 in a few weeks and my new favorite color changes daily-but a change of pace never hurt anyone.

Scene is more of a style than anything else. It doesn't mean anything in particular. It's often characterized by the kind of music Scene kids listen to as well. It shouldn't be a big thing, and isn't particularly likely to have any effect on her personality and the like. Just a trend. Good luck!

Maybe she just wants to try different styles and probably cause it's a trend at her school. It could also be because of the people she's hanging out with

Although, black is a beautiful color. As parents we have to be aware of changes in our children. They may be small, but you still need to take note of these changes. Your daughter may be going through a phase that will pass without incident. You should let your daughter know that you are there for her and that she can talk to you about ANYTHING that is troubling her. Let your daughter know that she is very much loved and to talk with you about peer pressure or bullying.
