Why do some sitcoms only last five or seven seasons?

All revolves around budget, profit, producing etc.

as well as Audience Ratings: if a show's ratings fall off low enough, a Network looks to see if it'd be worth it to continue to make the show. if it's not worth it, they usually cancel the show

Because they are no longer as popular as they once were, making new season no longer produced.

Because people stop watching the show..because it gets boring...

The two major reasons for the show ending are...
1) People just stop watching the show for whatever reason......
2) The people writing the show have just ran out of stories to tell within the confines of the characters....
There are a LOT more reasons, but these two are the most common

It's called "eyeballs." The channels know how many people are watching any given program and if it doesn't attract enough eyeballs to keep the advertisers happy, the program is axed - sometimes before the end of the series....
