I don't know if my boy gerbil is going to make it.

Is my boy 1 year old gerbil, Cinnamon, going to live? He bit his tail off, but I always give them food. It's healing a little. He lives with a white gerbil who still has his tail connected to his body. His name is Spice.

When do you notice his tail was missing?

My gerbil got his tail ripped off but you could still see the bone. I think it's called degloving after a day the bone dries up and falls off, which actually happens to alot if gerbils.. My gerbil was about the same age and he lived to be about 4 years old

If you took your gerbil to the vet and you are taking good care of him, then probably he is going to make it. Make sure that he is in a safe environment and away from any material that might cause infection to the wound.

I think he will, just make sure that it doesn't get infected (maybe take him to a vet ). And are do you have other animals? Because one of them might have bit the tail off, unless of course you saw him bite off his own tail
