As long as you repent and do your best to stop doing what, as you acknowledge, as sin, you are being a better person in the eyes of God.
An Australian man in my church said that Jesus has already died on the cross for your sins - he has already done what you had to do - regret for your sins. So stop fuming over the stuff you have done and just walk through the door that God has already opened.
Being a good Christian takes a life time..Keep praying. That way God knows you are sincere and HE will guide you. Just be a good person, compassionate, sharing, don't judge and keep the peace. That is good enough to call yourself a good Christian. The best advice tho is to keep the Lord's Commandments as your guide. We all fail, but we are always forgiven if we truly repent .. One day at a time.. Don't be too hard on yourself.
Try to be Christlike. Be humble, loving, friendly, compassionate, helpful, and selfless. Be the best version of yourself you can be. Work hard at everything you do, whether it's studying or being nice the the biggest jack*ss you know. Put others before yourself. Befriend people, and be kind to everyone, no matter who they are. Just remember not to let people take advantage of any kindness you may show. Good luck! :)
Repent! Turn away from sin. Be baptised in the Holy Spirit Pray Read The Word Of God all though the help of the Holy Spirit of course. The reason people struggle being a Christian is because they are filled with the Holy Spirit. You need the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome. God Bless!
This is a question we can't really answer. This is something you need to talk about with the Lord. I know you are praying, but ask yourself " am I praying with a sincere heart really looking for an answer?"
Good news and bad news: Here's the bad news - it is IMPOSSIBLE to live the Christian Life. And the good news - ALL things are POSSIBLE with God! As humans, we are hopelessly flawed - God says our righteousness is like filthy rags - no matter HOW good we try! Only GOD can work from the INSIDE out - and that's where the real change comes from. We can only achieve any semblance of being like Jesus by washing our minds by the water of the Word: reading the Bible, praying to Him, spending time with Him, learning ABOUT Him, focusing ON Him. Giving Him the old things (like an old hurt you've been resentful about), and letting Him clean up your "house"...If you sincerely do these things, it'll happen. WAY slower than you would like, but it'll happen nevertheless. God changes us from the inside out, but as the bible says, we become like that which we worship. If we worship obscene rock stars, be become like them (not a good thing). But if we worship Jesus, we become like HIM, which is wonderful. Slowly but surely He molds us, from glory to glory, into the person He wants us to be. Stay close to Jesus.
Being a good Christian, or just a good person, isn't about praying. "Please make me a good person." That must means you're waiting for someone outside you to do it for you. Unless you are mentally damaged (which I doubt) you know right from wrong. In any situation where you have to choose, DO what is right. DON'T do what is wrong. It might be hard to resist temptation, but you have to do it yourself.
Hi Kipple. Your question was how can I be a better person, Right? What do you think is wrong with the way you are? Since your asking this question probably nothing. I to am a Christian, I know a lot of good wonderful people who are not. How you worship has nothing to do with the quality of the person you are, it's your actions and what's in your heart. No man will be perfect. Keep a sound mind, see clearly,be compassionate,a warm heart, fair dealings, honesty at all levels,be charitable, never hate, understand, see the beauty of nature, enjoy living, smile. Do this and your a better man then I am. But I'm still trying hard!!
Virginiagirl is right on. Remember though: the Bible never says how hood you have to be(or folks would start boasting that they are "gooder" than you! Just be as much like Christ as you can be!and do it from your heart .
I appreciate you Kipple... to be a better person... try to be good , kind & humble with others.. be honest, do justice... respect & help every one irrespect of the gender & status.. & be thankful to God for everything you are blessed with dear.
The natural consequence of knowing and obeying God is that He becomes greater and greater, while we become less and less as we yield control of our lives to Him. Just as John the Baptist knew that "[Jesus] must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30), so the Christian grows to reflect more of Christ and less of his own nature. we grow in our knowledge of God by reading the Bible daily, studying it, and being obedient to what it says. This process causes us to grow and occurs over an entire lifetime in Christ. Only when we have entered Heaven for eternity with God does this process reach its culmination.
Galatians 5:22,23 says "the fruit age of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law." If you try to cultivate these qualities then you will be a better person :)
