I took my child to the doctor 6 days ago and the doc said it was the flu. She is still running a fever and sick, should I take her back in?

the doctor did not give her anything just told me to ( give IB's and Tylenol & to tough it out ) her exact words

how high is the fever? passed 104 I would. If given an antibiotic it will take some tyime to build up and do anything . There is NO magic pill to cure the flu.
keep warm lots of fluids.
PS children can handle high fevers much better than adults so don't panic too much.

The doctor didn't give her anything except a flu test the confirmed it was the flu. I'm not sure how long the flu lasts.

It's been between 100.3-103.7 but goes down with meds. It goes back up after about 5 hours or so.

How long did the doctor tell you this course of flu might go? Have you followed the doctor's instructions for her care? Is she less sick; as sick or sicker than she was when you first took her in?
If the MD said she should be recovering in a few days, you should take her back in if she is as sick or sicker. If the MD said a week or more, and she is less sick or as sick, then wait.
Overall, it is your determination, as the parent knowing your child, that counts when it comes to your child's health. If you think she needs to see the MD again, take her.

Never mind the Doctor...take her to an emergency room. If she is been having a fever she is going to need fluids (IV) and stronger medication. Don't wait to long.

Call the doctor again, I would also seek the advice of pharmacist, health insurance hot line, ER, whatever. It might have to run it's course, but if she's getting worse she needs to go in! This years flu has been known to last a month, also you feel better a few days and then it's back. Good luck!
