How long does a rape victim have until they can come forward to report their case?

*Dear mods, please don't delete this question* I have a female friend in Norway who just got raped by her step brother. She doesn't feel ready to report him yet, would her confession to the police still be admissible to file a charge against her brother after a month or even more?

There is a lot of reason's why she wouldn't wanna report this its embarrassing and scary i hope the best for your friend and hope they lock away her step brother for what he did!

Sooner the better. They need to obtain certain DNA. Also defense lawyers have a tendency to exploit things. "Why did you wait so long to report it" is a common phrase in court.

I really don't know but to think about it logically if she reports the case a month or even more the court is probably going to hold that against her and not take the case as serious as they would if it was reported earlier. I think this because the court can say if it was so important why didn't she report this earlier? My reasons may be wrong and may not make any sense but, I hope the best for your friend and I hope she gets help as soon as possible <3
