Perhaps, with all the varieties of technology and the constant "updating" of same, the world is changing too fast for many people and they feel bewildered and "out of it." They feel they should be able to cope with the rapid changes, and become depressed because they can't.

Problems, struggles, and unhappiness. Those are the large cause of depression in this time. As in any other time. Also mental disorders can cause depression.

I think its because this generations so different from the older generation. There was a huge change for the 20th century people. So they treat us different, in a way we cannot deal. :O

Not exactly simple...Nowadays more people are getting divorced, which can cause depression in the parent or children. Illnesses are breaking out, and the loved ones can get depression or even the sickly person. The population of bullies seems to be rising, which causes depression as well in victims. Beauty standards are getting harder to live up to nowadays, which definitely can cause depression. Loads of things are causing depression these days, not much we can do about it though... :-/

Because society tells them to be, you never catch people who live in the bush acting all hard done by and getting depressed unless they have a good reason for it.

I'm not saying people are all posers, I'm saying people need to harden up, parents are partially to blame too, instil some morals into your kids early on and maybe they will go through life a lot easier, we'd have a lot less suicides too.

I´m not your age but I have noticed that depression is more often than not situation based, bad circumstances can lead to depression depending on how people are able to stomach certain things.

There are those that need to be in the nut hut, those that can lead "normal" lives with meds & those that just have to much free time. If you're on the go, get to exercise & really tire yourself out physically, the mind isn't far behind. It is really hard to dwell on things, feel bad for yourself or just get down when you're mentally & physically exhausted

"nut hut" isn't a respectful term for those who suffer from a true medical condition such as depression .

personally, i think it is in part, due to the culture of death, and the falling away from God and the Judeo-Christian principles which this country was founded upon. Which has caused alot of confusion in many people as to what right and wrong is, which can easily lead to frustration in the vast majority of society, i believe this to be at least part of the reason for the massive amount of people, especially younger people, who are depressed in this society. However, for me personally, the only time i have been depressed was to to a loss of someone or something i truly care about, so i imagine that situation is present in far more people than myself.
