Can a Property management company come to you wanting you to pay for a carpet replacement four months after you've terminated the lease?

Even if they've signed off on the inspection and given you back your damage deposit. Also there is nothing stating in the lease agreement that they can come back to charge you for fees after termination of the lease.
There has been tenants in the apartment since we have moved out and it's been four months. The story they're telling us sounds desperate, from what I've heard the business is going under.

The answer is NO THEY CANNOT......Returning your deposit and signing off on the inspection relieved you of any liability at all......If you have the documents, keep them, but they cannot do that....

The answer is......NO. They have signed off, returned your deposit fee, and have new tenants in the apt. There are lawyers out there you can talk to free for the first visit if your really worried about it tho. But personally, unless they begin to make threats, I would just ignore them. Or you could tell them to cease and desist unless they want to hear from your attorney, because of the fore mentioned. ie... returned your deposit fee. I wish you the best......Don't sweat it !!!

As long as you have all that paperwork to back you up (fingers crossed) they have no leverage. You hold all the cards. This mgmt company is very unprofessional. Stand your ground.
