Huskies are professional? Hmmm. Well, there was this one husky I knew that did wear a suit and carry a brief case, but as a rule huskies aren't at *all* professional

I have seen SO MANY huskies just hanging our with their sweatpants sagging.....ball caps on askew....

I know right?! They're the silliest beasts. They don't get anything done at all
Report as
They think that because they have blue eye they can get ANYTHING they want!

They walk up to you and wag that fluffy curled tale...and BAM...some dumb kid gives em people food!!!

Doberman, German Shepard , Alaskan malamutes have a little bigger frame than huskies, retrievers, collies, brittanies ,

Yes. I recommend you don't get a husky. Don't go for looks. (like my husband and I did) I would never, ever get another husky. I strongly advise against it.

I think they are one of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen, but, unless I'm going to be sled-doggin, I couldn't have one. Not to mention their excessive shedding-- and they're not good watch dogs. But did I mention how beautiful I think they are?
Report as
You did, lol, and that is why we got one. Never again. :)

What kinds of problems do you have with him/her

Huskies are famously high-strung, though not as much as most small dogs. It's in their genes to run, and that is exactly what they do. Pretty much people would need a fenced yard or invisible fencing. We had to take our dog out on a leash to go to the bathroom, every time, or he'd be gone. (no completely fenced-in yard) They're not loyal dogs, either. He failed training school. :) The instructor didn't have high hopes with the huskies; she knew better. Seem to be quite the digger, too. Ours was not an affectionate dog, at all. Was hard to bond with him, properly. That's really something for me, trust me. Boy, he was a beauty, though. RIP, Shakima. : [

I've had a husky mix. She was an amazing dog....but only barked one time..while inside the house..if someone was in the driveway. She let the other dog bark when they were outside.

My goodness she was pretty though!!!
Report as
Mix being the key, I suppose. Ours didn't bark much, either. Was quite infrequent, actually, except when he was outside. I'm sure there was something worthy to bark at. :)
Report as
Yeah mine was mixed with shepherd (we think). I have read that purebreds are extremely hyper and NEED the extra exercise like sledding. Kind of hard to do when you work 40 hours a week and live in the city.
Report as
No doubt. I'm glad the mixed breed worked out for you. Shepherd....now that's one dog I absolutely love. In fact, in my list of top three of dogs I would love to have. :)

I actually have a purebred German Shepherd Dog right now. he is freaking awesome!!!! I got him as as surprise for hubster when he w 7 weeks old (he weighed about 12 pounds). Now he is 2 years old and weighs over 110 pounds!!! One of the most well behaved animals we have ever had. Very easy to train.

A purebred is what we would love to have. They are beautiful. I know better than to have it just be about looks, though. I love those dogs. One hundred ten pounds...nice. No doubt, very trainable. Excellent, excellent dogs. I'm glad you are enjoying your awesome dog, so. :)

I don't think you can come to a conclusion that huskies are a bad breed from only having one.
Report as
I read and learned about huskies. Most are this way. I said nothing about bad.
Report as
There are SOME differences between the different huskies, also. Mine was a Siberian.

Have I got a deal for you. I have a mid size dog you can have free. Even better I will pay YOU to take him. He ate my leather sofa, six pairs of glasses, several TV remotes, two wallets, five gardenia bushes, 17 library books, and and three Christmas trees. He ate his way out of his crate and destroyed several child-proof gates. I have had to replace the carpeting and the wood door trim, both if which he ruined. I have paid for a fence and a doggie door, a crate and a doghouse, training classes, vet bills by the hundreds, and pet sitters too. I have walked him every single day, rain or shine or sick or on holiday, for an hour for the last eleven years. Now that my son is older, he doesn't have time to play with him so I am stuck with that as well.

I want to laugh and cry with you. What a nightmare! You are a patient soul
Report as
Yea. And I forgot to mention I paid a fortune for him because he came with "papers" and a champion blood line.
Report as
Champion of destruction more like... What kind of dog is it? I want to know which breed to stay away from lol
Report as
For sure sas, what is that breed? Couldn't be a lab, no way.
Report as
Nope. Not a lab. It's a Boston Terror. Er...I mean Terrier. As a general rule they are crazy.
Report as
Maybe the dog needs to jog instead of walk. Hey, I've seen people put their dogs on treadmills, maybe that will wear the dog out so much that he won't have enough energy to do anything but eat and sleep. lol
