I Have Some Questions About Rabbit Care (Specifically Rex Rabbits)?
Well, I might be getting two Rex Rabbits. I'm not sure if they're Rex or Mini Rex. They're fairly small right now, but neither of us know their ages, either.
HOUSING I'm wondering if my cousin's current set-up would work or not. They have a large (maybe 5 foot by 4 foot?) pen made of wooden and wire fencing with a gate. Inside the pen is their two hutches, feed bowls, etc. Would laying down a cheap carpet work? Or would a blanket? Any suggestions to keep them from getting too cold at night?
FEED My cousins give them hay and have them full feeding. I've heard some people give their Rex 1/2 cup of pellets per rabbit per day. I've heard some just give pellets and no hay. What do you feed your rabbits? I was thinking about doing both hay and pellets, but I don't know how much of either to give them.
MAINTENANCE I've also heard I'd need their claws clipped monthly. Is that true? Do I need to do it more or less? And would ordinary small animal clippers work for this? And I've also heard their teeth get really long? Is that true? And if so, would getting them a wooden chew block keep that from happening?
Many thanks to anyone that answers!
