Do cats want to eat more in the winter?

Since it's gotten really cold, my cat has been begging for food more than usual. Don't want her to get fat, but she really seems hungry. Anyone notice this behavior with their cat?

Food=heat~energy and you burn energy, so cats need to eat more

Give the cat food. It's hungry, what do you do when you are hungry? Eat. Exactly.

You have to remember a cat's body temperature is slightly higher than a human's. It takes A LOT of energy to produce that kind of internal body heat. When it is cold out, it requires that much more energy to maintain that body temp. As mentioned earlier, more food means more energy.
