I know this may sound strange, but a tablespoon of peanut butter (if you aren't allergic) swallowed without keeping it in your mouth for long really works.

I know it sounds weird dustee, and I thought so at first as well, but that's the only thing I use when I get them and it has never let me down. It doesn't work on my daughter though...or so she says. lol But then, she doesn't like peanut butter.

3. drink water(dont stop holding breath)
4. swallow water 3-4 times(without breathing)

To stop hiccups you can hold your breath as long as you can 5 times in a row, or chug back like 2-3 glasses of water. I also heard getting scared will get rid of them to. I know the first two work for sure though.

I don't know how it started, but a good way to get rid of it is to hold your breathe for at least 3 minutes(It is hard to do, but if you can get the 3 minutes down, your golden)

My record is holding it for a minute and 20 seconds. 3 minutes is a dangerously long time. It will only cause a migraine.

Usually it starts when you're drinking a liquid and air gets stuck in it, and you swallow. Most times you can hold your breath until you feel lightheaded

I can tell you this, my grandfather had me do it when I was younger. And he was the smartest man I knew. A spoonful of mustard will get rid of hiccups within 2 seconds after swallowing it. I promise u that

Drink some water from the front of the glass. U have to bend down to get the front of the glass, find a small glass and drink. You will spill some so put something down for the spill. It will STOP RIGHT AWAY!!! Please let the community know what worked. I know mind does everyone I tell about it thanks me. And I mean it stops as soon as U do it.

its air that gets trapped between your esophagus and diaphragm..which causes air pockets to form and causing you to hiccup in either a rapid moment or chain reaction.

Because you have this thing in your stumick that messes up some and all you have to do is bend over and hold your knees for 20 sec and it will go away

The reason why you get hiccups is because you aren't breathing the right amount that you are supposed to....

Saying "watermelon" before you sneeze will keep it from coming for a moment. My brother thinks it's because of the "n".

Lungs and Diaphragm (between Lungs and Stomach) become out-of sync.
Caused by any number of reasons.
Solution: 3-Methods.
1. Run a mile. Result: causes heavy breathing in/out.
2. Simulate running a mile. Breathe in/out fast, gradually slowing down.
Note: keep paper bag handy if hyper-ventilation occurs.
3. Eat 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. (Honey substitute unknown)
+. Will have to try peanut butter.

such a complicated question !
when a person's blood becomes overflown by oxygen, he starts to hiccup. the best way for defeating it , is to breathe in a freezing bag for approximately 20 minutes. in this way u breathe the same air for times and this decreases amount of oxygen in ur blood.

According to http://kidshealth.org/kid/talk/qa/hiccup.html, you hiccup when your diaphragm gets irritated and jerks down suddenly. Then the air hits your voice box. Some causes of this spasming are:
- Eating too quickly or too much
- An irritation in the stomach or the throat
- Feeling nervous or excited
To get rid of them, try some of these:
- Hold your breath and count to 10
- Drink from the "wrong" side of a glass of water
- Put sugar under your tongue
- Have someone jump out and scare you when you're not expecting it
I hope this helps!!

hiccuping happens when there is trapped air in your chest, it can last for quite a long time depending if you take care of it the minute it happens

the thing that i do is hold my breathe first for 10 seconds, and if that doesnt work, then i do it for 20, and i continue on switching from 10 to 20 until its gone

People hiccup because the diaphragm muscle goes into spasms Try holding your breath and swallowing three times as you do it. Works for me everytime
