What are some nice 'thank you' gifts?

I want to give someone a little gift along with a thank you note, I'm not looking to spend too much money. Any ideas?

If you are handy with the oven, a great 'thank you' gift is a batch of homemade cookies, bread, brownies, or even a small cake. If you would prefer to buy something, a bottle of wine would be appropriate if the person you are thanking drinks, as would a nice bouquet of fresh flowers. You can get both for under $15.

It depends on the person but if they are female, they may appreciate a candle. Scented candles are very popular these days. Find one in a scent they like, along with a thank you card, and it shouldn't break your budget.

American Express gift checks are great because the recipient can spend them anywhere and they never expire.

I would suggest something you made. Baked goods always go over well!

Otherwise, for a woman maybe a relaxing candle or some bath salts, for a man, maybe some inexpensive alcohol? (Maybe an inexpensive bottle of wine for either).

Another nice idea might be a little item that reminds them of you that they can keep in their home. For instance if you or they really like birds maybe a little bird figure, or something else along their or your interests.

if you have any pictures taken with your host, print it and put it in a nice frame...a nice rememberance of you time with them!

A nice note with a gift certificate to a restaurant, grocery store or other place the person likes to shop.

Nice stationary is a great gift, as are any monogrammed or personalized items to show your host that you really thought of them... Potted plants are also very nice, and last longer than bouquets - African Violets are a nice variety.

If you're close with the recipient, planning a fun event to share together is a great gift - experiences with loved ones are much more valuable than any material thing you can give.
