I feel that credit should go to President Obama for the assassination of Osama bin Laden. This is mainly because it occurred in his administration.

It should go to all of us then. We lived through his administration.

You are sadly wrong. The credit should go to the brave men who carries out the mission. As well as all the brave men and women over the years gathering intelligence and looking for him.

Why should it?
He's not the one that did it.

It isn't about "the one" to take credit. There were hundreds if not thousands of people involved. Ultimately, it was his decision so he's certainly responsible and would get blame if it went badly, or credit if it went well. There was some political risk but it's also hard to imagine a president not doing it since the operational risks were apparently not huge. His leadership shouldn't be overstated, either. He was lucky that the intelligence had developed enough under his term to allow it to happen. Many others should get some "credit" too, and I use that term advisedly.

What people here won't ever do is BLAME him for what appears to be an assassination rather than an attempt to capture. If Bin Laden really was this mastermind then why wouldn't you prefer him alive over being dead? It seems to me that he would have more intelligence value, unless there's some reason you don't want him alive. Since it took 4 years for Bin Laden to take credit for 9/11 maybe there's something more to it.

Obama hasn't exactly been cautious in targeting people without due process including American citizens so we can't be sure if there were additional less obvious motives.

The only way I can see a president not doing this would be because of the political risks with Pakistan which is a nuclear power. In fact, there has been some blowback because of that. Many Pakistanis hate the US even more now and it resulted in some people there being locked up or killed weeks and months after the raid for political reasons. Remember that the Pakistanis who cooperated with the US risked a lot and some of them are paying for that.

What kind of president would have said no don't get him?

Credit goes to him for the raid, because his neck was on the line for an operation on soil where it would have been very embarrassing had something gone badly. It could have been a Carter moment. So yes, I give him credit.

If it had gone wrong, who would have gotten the blame?
He chose how, who and when so yeah, he gets the credit

The military designed the plan and Obama gave the okay. Boo lay off the Obama kool-aid.

Pearl, grow up. If it had gone wrong Obama would have gotten the blame. We gave credit to Reagan for the hostage release in Iran, we have Reagan credit for the Berlin Wall coming down, we blamed carter for the failure of the Iranian hostage rescue, we gave credit to bush for Hussein, it is all part and parcel

Not with the biased media. It would have been Bush's fault like everything else for the past 4 years.

Of course he should get credit, just as the Seals that followed thru on his orders. Most people understand this process unless they are Obama "haters".

No he shouldn't. All Obama did was give the okay. He wasn't over there with guns and special forces carrying out the mission. They're the ones who should be given credit as well as all involved on intelligence gathering.
