I am a religious person, but I completely support homosexual marriage. A majority of conservative voters deny the rights of homosexuals, such as the right to get married, simply because it interferes with their religion and personal beliefs. I ask myself: "Why should my beliefs affect the beliefs of others?" Simply answered, it should not.
There is no reason other then religion, our government may not be a theocracy but most voters are religious.
Well, they may deny it but its mostly for religious purposes. But the reform is happening now, many states are changing to allow it, Most of New England allows for it, except for one state I believe. I believe they should all allow for it.
Actually I don't see any reason why they can't. It's not unconstitutional. There are no American laws making it illegal. I mean, if we have to have a law that says homosexuals can get married then we should have a law that says everybody has the right to breathe. The constitution doesn't say breathing is unconstitutional and likewise for homosexual marriage
For the most part religion is why. Those states have more religious fanatics who throw huge beef about it and vote against it. No offense to anyone religious just some take it way too far.
Religious reason and voting against the fact so thats only reason i see why.
Unfortunately, it IS about religion. The United States is very guilty of letting religion cloud the government and law making.
Uhhhh, because it's WRONG?

My mother also grew up in the 60s, and she is just as much a wholehearted supporter of Gay Rights as I am. So don't blame your closed-minded behavior on when you were born. We wouldn't be teaching our children "the fringe of our tolerance as a society" behavior. We would be showing them that it's okay to love. It's okay to stop hating and accept people who they are. That it's okay to make your own decisions without fear of their own parents hating them for who they love.
So... you're saying homosexuals are supposed to think about and respect the views of the "rest of us", but you don't have to think about and respect their views? How hypocritical. Homosexuality isn't wrong. The only thing that's wrong here is people hating something that's natural. It's not a disease that spreads to other people through example. It's just love.
. . .
So thank you for the good luck wishes. That's kind of you. We obviously have very different viewpoints and that's fine. We can argue for years and get nowhere. We know where each other stand. So I'll conclude this and say: Have a good evening. Really :)
I don't think there is any other reason. People are narrow minded and don't want to accept a same sex union. It's ridiculous!
I think if every state let homosexuals get married then that would open the door for other awful behavior that would develop. What then would stop plural marriage?
Because each state can do what they want. Move to a state that allows it. Problem solved.
it is a state decision as they regulate marriage. no uniformity exists in marriage rules: some states allow marriage at age 16, some 18. Some allow first cousins to marry and some don't.
do you believe murder is immoral? this belief should not affect the laws? what kind of logic is this? its either moral or not. if you think its moral, u differ from the Bible. you may be religious but not as most Christians. in fact, what religion do you believe??
Just because your OWN religion is against, does not mean everyone else should be too. There are religions accept it. Why should the Christian religion be the foundation for which we base all our laws? Is this not America, land of the free?
For that matter, why should it matter if I think it's moral? Homosexuals are humans, too. They deserve equal freedoms as all of us.
