As you can see favorite breeds is a personal thing. I like find that Apps come in 2 flavored, very, very smart or very, very dumb. I love the smart ones although they can be difficult. Quarter horses can be fun, if you like smooth riding any of the haired horses are nice. I've dealt with both high strung and easy going Arabs. Basically what will make the best horse for you is one trained to your level of expertise (the less you know, the more the horse should know and visa versa), a horse comfortable with what you want to do, one that has spent his life in the show ring wouldn't make a good trail horse and one whose temperament is a good match for you. If you want to be bold and brave, you don't want a fearful horse.
my favorite breed is the Appaloosa, the Tennessee walker or the arabian. They are all great pleasure riding horses. usually all mild tempered, easy to train and good with kids in my experiences with them.
