If you are to choose on saving one, will it be a stray cat or a human embryo?

it might sound ridiculous, or badly structured, but i would just like to hear how we put things into perspective when it comes to life.

A stray cat. Its a life. A human embryo is just the possibility of a life.

Depends, is the human embryo in a person? If it is not alive I will not save it, not possible.

I would rather save the cat, its alive and needs care but I don't understand how you can save a human embryo because it hasnt been born yet :p

I can see I'm in the minority, but I'd save the *human unborn child* any day every day.

Sorry, this question makes no sense, one is unborn and one is walking the earth. How can anyone save an embryo? Re-inject it into another mother? I again say this question makes no sense.

The choice is between saving a human or an animal.
Report as
The point is, what does one have to do with another, it's not like I'd find both of them on a burning building together. It's a Moot question.

seedy3: how about a cryophilic stray cat that is trapped in a ref and has nothing to eat but a semi-frozen goo of human embryos?

Well, cats are independent fighters, the "gangsters" of the animal world. They are born fighters and often die horrible deaths as fighters, and I'd save the cat more than a human. Humans these days are... expendable. They think life is just theirs, not the animals they eat or see in the streets. The whole question is a lot to consider, but I'd go with the cat 100%.

Since God says: He knew us when in the mothers womb... That embryo
Is a human created in the image of God....... Save the embryo!
God also says that He gave man dominion over all the earth....!.
Save the embryo!

I have no desire to save a stray cat, and I do not have the resources or knowledge to do anything with an embryo.

The cat is alive and has memory and knowledge, however limited it may be. The embryo has a potential to live, but it is nothing but a parasitic simple formation of cells. Obviously I would save the cat.

Report as
Life starts when the infant is developed enough to survive outside of the womb.

@jjjjj If it's just a motherless embryo (somehow, just speaking hypothetically) then I understand choosing the cat. But to the mother, it is probably seen as far more than a parasite and it would be heartless to choose a cat over a person's pregnancy. But I'm sure that's not what you meant
Report as
Of course. For the sake of the question I assumed that the embryo was, for some reason or another, independent from the womb.
Report as
That's a reasonable assumption but I doubt the asker meant it like that, it sounds vaguely like a pro choice vs anti abortion type of question

All life is precious, I would opt for the human life, he or she could be the potential cure for cancer, a cat cannot.

The cat, the embryo can't be saved if its in someone else's body. The cat is also a living, breathing life form on its own.

So you're asking life vs possibility of life?
If we are being realistic, the cat because there is no possibility of me somehow saving an embryo.
Hypothetically speaking, I would save a woman's PREGNANCY over a cat (that is if she actually wanted the pregnancy!) because that is a potential baby, and babies are typically seen as more important than stray cats.. Even though I love animals, I would have to choose a baby over a pet, if that's what the question is asking.

Was that intended sarcastically? My point is just as valid as yours in fact you prove my point in your comment you would kill a cat if you had to and you think it's ok for a woman to kill a child simply because she doesn't want it what about the man what if he wanted the child?
Report as
I was being sarcastic in the comment I posted on your answer. I said "that's the spirit" because your answer was very pessimistic.
Who said anything about killing a cat? If I had to choose between the two, I would choose a woman's pregnancy over a stray cat. This is because the loss of a pregnancy (depended upon how far along she is and if she does want the baby) is seen as far more valuable than a stray cat, which has no owner and frankly would not be missed. If I could, I would obviously save both. But that wouldn't be answering the question- the question asks to choose one, so I did.
FYI an embryo is NOT a child. This is an embryo:

These are children:

If it comes down to the woman not wanting the embryo and the man wanting it, the decision still falls upon the woman because it is in her body, not his. Of course she should always take the man's thoughts into consideration, but in the end it is her choice.
