What is the best kind of laptop for a writer?

I'm trying to start writing some books and it would be nice to have a laptop. I would like one that has good battery life and lots of RAM. I don't really wanna spend more than $900 though.

I don't use computers for my writing but, if I had to choose it'd be a HP Dell.
