What is the most amount of money that you would pay to purchase a pair of shoes that you really like?

I saw some Jordan's at the mall for $100 that I plan on buying, and some Adidas for $110. I won't pay more than probably $130, I know its ridiculously expensive.

If you like them, then go for it. But it's probably not the best Idea to waste ridiculous amounts of money on things like shoes that will probably get scuffed up, dirty or ruined. Unless it is a pair of heels that you only wear on special occasions, but not in this case. If you plan on using these for things like excercise, I suggest finding a more reasonably priced pair of shoes to use that it will be okay if they happened to get messed up or ruined.

Superficial life. You could feed a village for $130

Nice comment, but unlikely to change 99.9% of readers. Judgment doesn't always work...Also, where is this village? I'm more concerned with Americans at the moment, some of us are in need, too.

Some people like me often have no more than two cheeze tortillas in the evening.,.25 cents each. That is all I want before bed. I am in Ecuador now. Americans still pay wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much for most of what they buy and the retailers just love it. The Japanese and Europeans are in the same trap at home.

The most I would pay for a shoe is $300. I bought a pair of GDragon shoes for $240 not too long ago (that's the most I've spent on a shoe before, but they're the best and coolest shoes EVER) I think if you really really like it, you should buy it :)

You are buying your status symbols. Brainwashed consumers. Nice little tax-paying citizens.

$60
There are some shoes that I like, and they're worth $100+ but since I'm a DIYer I made some that are quite similar to the original. How I do it is not an exact replication, its just my imitation version really so don't lecture me .-.

The real question is, how much can you AFFORD to spend on a pair or shoes? For many years, as a single mother, I limited myself to 10% of a weekly income, and only bought twice a year. That gave me $30.00 every six months, or $60.00 a year. Even though I have no money problems now, I still can't imagine paying more than $30.00...If your income is $1200.00 per week, then go for the $120.00 shoes. Just remember, you don't have much discretionary money left after that..

I don't have a job yet

In that case, the real question is still how much can you afford to spend on a pair of shoes? Imagine how much you would make at a real job with your current knowledge and expertise. Where does your money come from, allowance, parents by request, or does it grow on trees? If the first, plan accordingly. If the second, realize that they probably work hard for every dollar they spend on you, and would be considerably impressed with your thoughtful, reasonable explanation of why you need shoes that cost that much, and also your mature acceptance of the fact that they may not be able to afford that much for your shoes. If the third, just go for it, and buy some clearance stuff for that village that Robin talked about...

yes allowance and I just save it up from there, and I do so many chores around the house, if I left for a week I'm sure it'd fall apart hahaha x)
Report as
Good for you for doing chores, and if you are self-disciplined enough to save a few allowances, then buy those shoes that you have worked hard for. Just keep in the back of your mind that the real world is quite different. You sound like a young person with a pretty good head on your shoulders, keep up the good thinking...

The most expensive shoes I have are $130.

You should buy whatever you like. If you like the Jordan's better then buy them. If you like the Adidas better then buy those.
