What is the best defense for a houseful of sick people?

It's my son' birthday. I am going to visit him and mama soon. They are both pretty sick. I live very far and see him every 6 months. Any suggestions?

Drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with a little water. Do it once or twice a day. This kills any germs that are lurking in your throat. Do not touch their faces and make sure you wash your hands before you touch ANY place on your own face! Spray Lysol in your bedroom and bathroom, then, no matter how cold it is, open the windows for a minute to let some fresh air in.

I am a registered nurse. The best defense against infection is handwahing frequently. Is the illness respiratory? Wearing a mask may help also. Encourage the sick people to use tissues and to also wash their hands frequently. Hope this helps.

quarantine. everyone (including you) should avoid all contact possible with others. this will stop it from spreading, and help build an immunity to stop future sickness.

Wash your hands like a ridiculous amount of times. Seriously. Lotion up too though, will dry out hands. Disinfect things like doorknobs, counter tops, toilet seat & handle, fridge, things that are touched frequently. Take airbourne. Encourage your family to wash hands, and cover your cough.

Buy a face mask from a pharmacy or hardware store.
Wash hands often, dont touch eyes or nose, sanitize hands before putting anything in your mouth, as soon as you get home put all you are wearing in laundry and wash up well, try not to touch the sick folk

try taking an immune booster, wash your hands a lot(hand sanitizer if need be), and express your concerns to them. say in a nice way that you can't get sick, you still love them but please cough, etc away from me and i dont really recommend a mask because it is kind of rude if they just have the flu, if it isnt life-threatening or anything. hope this helps!!

I agree with nurserealestate.

You may also consider adding bleach to your dishwater if washing anything by hand or using the heated water cycle on the dishwasher to disinfect dishes that are used. And for heaven's sake, don't share dishes, especially glasses.

My mother always did the bleach in the dishwater (about 1/4 c to the pan or sink) when I was growing up; illnesses were short-lived. And I don't remember the whole household getting sick. I'll even do these two steps as a preventative when people around me are talking about their households getting sick. Haven't had a bug hit our household and take one of us down for more than a day in years.

The best thing to do is to wash your hands. Also when you touch any of their things that might have been in close contact with them, try not to touch it and if you have to, don't. And it's good to know that the reason we wash our hands is so we don't get germs. Don't touch your eyes, mouth, or nose to much when your on this trip. But overall have fun and spend time with your family!

If it is your sons birthday then go and have fun. Don't worry about getting sick. You will just make the kid uncomfortable. Unless it is a serious sickness that is.
