I can open my garage door using the remote but not close it. To close the door, I must use the button in the garage and hold it down.

I have a liftmaster Model 973LM garage door opener. I have tried erasing all codes from memory and reprograming the remote. The lights blink but when I press the remote button and the door doesn't work.

There are adjustments on the opener head unit for downward travel and downward pressure. You may need to adjust the downward pressure to get the door to close properly. If you don't have the owners manual, go to the Liftmaster website for a PDF manual.

Ours was doing things like that , so I changed the battery in the remote and it was fine ! You might have to call someone who works on those and have him check it out !

Make sure the laser beam sensors at the bottom of each side of the door openings are lined up.
