Most of the movies were black and white when I was a kid. I think we started getting colour (Technicolor, Eastman Color and so on) in the late 1940s. Hard to remember the best and to recall whether they were still B&W. Here are six in no particular order.
SHANE was unforgettable, if you don't mind westerns. THE COURT JESTER starring Danny Kaye. THE THIRD MAN with James Cotton. Dum-de-dum, de-dum, de-dum... BRINGING UP BABY with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Hilarious. THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLE a classic War of Independence movie with a GBS twist. THE GHOST AND MRS MUIR A love story for romantics who hope for survival.
