What does my teacher mean when he says be able to tell whether an object has positive, negative or no acceleration? Answers please!

Your teacher is simply telling you that you should find whether the object in question has any movement and towards what direction. For example, when an object has no acceleration, it means that it's not changing its position with time therefore it is constant.
