how old do you have to be to legally move out of your parents house? does it depend on the state?

does it depend on what state you live in? does anyone know how old you have to be in Illinois?

18. If your parents care. I was on my own at 16 had my own condo/room mate at 17. came home from work one day and found the dr locked /changed. slept in my car for 2 wks. NEVER missed a days work though.

I think, in all states, you have to be 18. I am not sure; I think Google would give you a better, more detailed answer :)

You have to become emancipated aka "divorce the family". They don't have obligation to care for you anymore so make a smart choice. 16 sounds about right though

every state is different on almost everything. i live in georgia and here you are known as an adult at 16... at that age you can disobey your parents, move out, have a license, drop out of school, etc.

typically a 16 yr old can be emancipated, but that means you need a job to support yourself. you cant just move in with another family member or something unless your parents are ok with it.

I think at 16/17 you can get emancipated if you have a good job and can prove you can support yourself and financially stable

You can get emancipated at 16 in Illinois if you have a full time job(means you can support yourself)and means of transportation

I believe 16 in most states, but your parents can legally make you move back. I know 18 and there is nothing they can do about it. Now you will have to stay in school, go for a ged or you will lose your license and this is everywhere.
