What came first chicken or the egg?

The egg definitely came first. Based on the laws of heredity, every egg has slightly different DNA than whatever laid it. At whatever point the chicken we know today came into existence, it was laid by something that was not quite the same. Lets call it a sub-chicken. The DNA of the sub-chicken is different from the DNA of the egg it laid, but the egg's DNA did not change in the process of hatching. Therefore, regardless of exactly when the sub-chicken completed its evolution into what we would call a chicken (which is impossible to pinpoint), the egg had to have come before the chicken.

Obviously the egg....dinosaurs popped eggs out long before the existence of birds. Even the Red Jungle Fowl laid eggs before the chicken, that's where the chicken was bred from.

Egg because there were reptile laying eggs before chickens came the question should be better phrased "what came first the chicken or the chicken egg?" In that case i do not know.

The answer is odious , the chick because waaaaaaaay back in the day when the first chicken was spawned from some microscopic organisms thus making an under developed chicken that would not require a mother to take care of it and then it would have evolved into a dodo and then into the tasty fried snack that we all know and love

According to my religion, the chicken came first. God made it and a rooster and then it layed an egg a bit later, populating the world with its feathery children.
