What's the difference between a social worker and a psychologist ?

A Psychologist is a therapist who counsels patients with various mental troubles. This is a private professional position. A Social worker is a person who works usually for the government and finds services and funding for both children and adults, like foster parenting, and work rehabilitation programs.

But if it's a psychologist who works for the gouvernement isn't it the same thing ?

Usually Psychologists don't work for the government.
Anyway the big difference is the Psychologist has a 4-7 year college degree and the social worker does not. the social worker always works for the government.

No, both have special skills/talents utilized on different levels to help individuals. It is not us usual they may consult one another for the betterment of the individual(s) concerned. Social workers often have degrees either in Sociology or Psychology or dual majors.

The real answer, at least in the US, is that a psychologist has a doctoral level degree. A social worker often has a master's degree, but not always. Either, or both, can work for the government, but that has nothing to do with their job descriptions, or the differences between them. Both social workers and psychologists can work for hospitals, charitable organizations, schools, or as private psychotherapists. Psychologists are more frequently involved in research and teaching, social workers much less so.

A social worker is someone who specializes in the wellbeing of a person or group of people.. Usually through teaching, mentoring, or through community programs...
A psychologist is basically a counselor.. They use theories and techniques to help people with their issues. They are also qualified to administer psychological evaluations.

A psychologist has a doctoral level degree. A social worker has an undergraduate degree, and often a master's degree.
