I am a heroin addict myself. I've been clean for over two years with the help of a drug called Suboxone that was perscribed by my Dr. It helps a lot with withdrawal and cuts the cravings for dope. It saved my life-- maybe it could help your mom. God bless.

WOW. Sorry. Tight spot. Does her Dr. know about the heroin? If so he has probably already adjusted for it.

Well. !st off she needs to either tell the doc or get a doc she can talk to. IF she can't are you old enough to go with her to the next appointment? If so then put the doc on notice about Mom's issues. AND make sure to remind them that EVERY person has habits they long to be rid of. You may not know what habit the doc has but trust me he does. Tell the staff also. Sometimes you have to bring them back to reality. I know a nurse who bit*chd about someone smoking . She weighed like 300 lbs. Waddled when she walked. I simply pointed out that EVERY one has Habits....

My father was an opiate addict, and had lung cancer. Yes, the doctor needs to know. A good doctor will not judge , but come up with a solution that will help your mom. Being an opiate addict makes it hard to find a dose to work, but, as I said, a sincere doctor will take care of your mothers needs and can help finding medication financial assistance.

I'm so sorry about your Mom! I don't know what options are out there for her except medicaid. Check into that and then let the doctor advise you. Under no circumstances should you give her any drugs that are habit forming! Her doctor should prescribe any drugs for her! She will need pain killers at some time, but they must be prescribed! Don't play doctor, you could end up in jail!
