You really mean "Who." He was a native American. I wish people would stop saying Indian. (Indians are from India)... Even wiki doesn't get it...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Indian_in_the_Cupboard

OMG I love the book. Omri is the boy who gets a cupboard from his brother and a little plastics Indian/Native American from his friend. He puts the Indian in the cupboard and he's now alive

Omri is somewhat timid and shy. He doesn't have a lot of friends, and he keeps to himself. He likes his brothers' toy soldiers and plays with them when he isn't allowed to. He's emotional, kind, and caring.
