My 16 month old baby girl has viral syndrome, but since we left the ER her fever has gone up to 103.7. What do i do?

For the past 3 days my 16 month old daughter has been running a slight temp and has not eaten any solid foods. Her fever went up to 102 so we went to the ER. The doc told us she has viral syndrome and told us to treat it with tylenol and plenty of fluids and theres nothing else they can do. But since we left the ER 3 hours ago, her fever has gone up to 103.8. She is shakeing and sweating and will not stop crying. I do not know what to do. She is only 16 months old and weighs 20 pounds. Please help )...:

DON'T PUT HER IN ICE!!!! She could have a seizure or go into shock because of that. NEVER do that!

I did say to put her in ice I said a bath with ice cubes in it that fast way to lower fever and will not induce a seizure I have done this per recommendation from my nurse partitioner as well as my son doctor as well as my grandchildren doctor been mom for 26 yr and that what I would do

If the over the counter stuff isn't keeping the fever down, go back to the ER. If she's running a fever that high, they shouldn't release her until they are sure that the meds are working to bring it down.

they said her age they do not do anything til its 105 or 106 and told us just to go home and let it run its course but im scared

Absolutely not!! If there is a different hospital you can take her to, then do that. 103 or higher for several days, especially if she's not eating, is not normal, especially if she is taking tylenol/advil and it's not bringing it down.

Are you able to get her to drink fluids? What other symptoms is she having?

Call your pediatrician or go back to the ER!! In the mean time try a cool compress on her forehead!!

Go back to the er. Dont leave til they have her fever down to normal. She needs monitored and probably needs some I.v. fluids. Don't let that hospital jerk you around and good luck with your daughter.
