In most of the world's poorer countries, children are made to work long hours for no payment at all. Recent documentaries on how chocolate is harvested showed some big name suppliers up in a very bad light. Similarly, in many counties, women are regarded as chattels and their work is not paid for. But if you regard "slavery" as having to work for no payment, just point your finger anywhere on a globe of the world and you will have put your finger on 21st century slavery.
Yes, but in a different way - most feel that you have to be in chains and under bondage - however, if one allows himself to get in debt beyond ones means - he is a slave to the one with the money he owes. That is the worst kinds of slavery - because - even though you are not in physical chains - you are chained mentally, financially and emotionally.
Wikipedia: The number of slaves today remains as high as 12 million to 27 million, even though slavery is now outlawed in all countries.
There are slaves in the USA, people smuggled in who thought they were to be set free as illegal immigrants but are kept prisoner and put to work in "knockoff" clothing factories, etc. Girls are often kept prisoner and used as prostitutes. I don't doubt that these types of slavery (and others) are practiced in any country where it can be gotten away with. All countries have declared slavery illegal, but all countries have people who will break any law if there is a profit to be made.
Slavery is still going on. African Americans in Africa are being treated as s3x slaves, and there has been some American girls being treated as s3x slaves too as a form of s3x trafficking. Other than s3x slavery and more, there is a lot of other forms of slavery going on in the world. So, do I believe that it still exists? Obviously, yes.

You bet, I've built thousands of homes in my lifetime. I don't see the difference between me and the Egyptians that built the pyramids, we only worked for different masters and our motivation was different.
