kids that age will act out when getting bullied.inquire about friends, inform him things are going to change, because it is unacceptable for him to behave like he has.when he acts out, ask him to " please stop your behavior "As he looks at you.Explain exactly how he is expected to act, when he disrespect you, inform him first that if he does that again, (what ever discipline, take awaysomething, tv.3 pops,ect..most important thing to remember is. What ever you threaten, you HAVE to Enforce it & stick to it. (so if you know you will not enforce it , dont threaten it) when he throws a fit cause you have disciplined him, tell him itll be 2 days without, he continues, 3 days.so on &so on. YOU have to enforce it. go read a book clean your room, fold clothes. you can give all sorts of chores when he comes to you board. make him do the chore, he will straighten up. mother of 3, twin girls in the national guard, college, & work full time. havea( 9yr old Boymyself). its time consuming, you have to correct it now, because if you wait.he will never respect your authority.children love boundaries. Good Luck, I know you can do it. I also am an child development/psychology also a preschool Teacher.
It's up to you as a parent to teach him right from wrong and having a bad attitude is wrong. Have clear rules that don't change and get stricter with your discipline. Let him know that no means no and no matter what he does. If he has a bad attitude about it then there are consequences for bad behavior. Usually kids have bad attitudes because they know if they throw a fit they will get their way. You better get a grip on this now or when he becomes a teen you're in trouble.

He may be having difficulty relating to the other children, due to a learning disability such as ADHD or a social disorder. Children with these problems, can feel misunderstood, angry, confused and lose academically. With correct medical diagnosis and care, they can thrive and be happy. We went through this with our son who has ADHD and treatment made all the difference in the world. Take care.
