It might just be twisted. If your ankle still hurts after you wake up in the morning of if it's bruised, it might be sprained. If you can't walk on it, it's probably broken and you should go see a doctor, but if you can walk it most likely isn't, and I wouldn't worry too much. For now I recommend taking some pain medicine and putting some ice on your ankle. Make sure to keep it elevated with pillows and/or a foot rest if you can.
Hi bellah, a few question should clear it up, first, how exactly did you hurt it, is it bruising anywhere and the swelling can you see it's bigger than the other,..then can you straighten your arm, make a fist and bend your arm, lastly do you feel nauseated.
