So... Gas prices... Why is there a 9 at the end the price? $3.50 and 9/10? What's the deal with that?

This kind of pricing scheme can be equated to the advertising strategy that is meant to give customers the notion that a price that has been reduced by the 9/10th of a cent is much fairer. A person pricing gasoline at $3.69 per gallon will have more sales than one who has the price set at $3.70.
