I suspect that the one's performing the "suicide bombings" are gullible people convinced by their "superiors" that they will indeed go to heaven for their deeds. Whether these "superiors" believe this is another question. I don't think we see THEM carrying out any martyrdoms of their own.
What is sad is that many are taught from infancy to kill or harm others in the name of god or religion? Even modern man, who may not use god as an excuse for killing others will on a regular basis perform mass attacks that kill hundreds, maim thousands, and rob millions of their right to peace of mind and safety. Gun shots and bombs explode in marketplaces, malls, movie theaters, and schools. Elsewhere villages are burned to the ground, women are raped, children go into captivity, yes, people die.
Such action reflect not the fruitage of God's spirit but that of the wicked one. (1 John 5:19; Galatians 5:22,23) How wonderful I am not the one judging mankind. God's thought are higher than ours and he knows why people do what they do and will judge them accordingly. -Isaiah 55:8,9
just the same as my answer to your previous question ...
Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said:
?God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers.? (Quran 60:8)
The Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children, and he would advise them: ?...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.? And he also said: ?Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.?
Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire.
He once listed murder as the second of the major sins, and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, ?The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.?
Many of them don't seem to care if they go to heaven or not. There is good reason to believe that many of them are not particularly religious. And in the history of things like suicide bombings, muslims are newcomers, most have been Tamils of hindu background. Many have been Communist or Marxist with no religion.
Religion may be the cause of some of these conflicts, but as reason for individuals to fight to the death or take part in suicide attacks, religion is a red herring. All the studies of the last ten years have reached the same conclusion.
Trust me, I am an atheist and would love to blame it all on the evils of religion, but the evidence doesn't support this. It is injustice that drives Jihad.
