So you can learn how to talk correctly! "Why is there such a thing as school?" Or "Why are schools pivotal in order for me to be accepted into society?" To which the answer would still be 'So you can learn how to talk correctly!'
So that people aren't stupid. Theres enough stupid people WITH school imagine without it? You wouldn't know how to do ANYTHING, you wouldn't have all this clothes and technology because no one would be smart enough to learn how to make it.

Hm, well for starters, read your title; think about it. Does it sound right? Okay, then read vlantz comment/answer. Think about it.
Best answer will be; because being in school will help you in this modern day life. You will not live a healthy and happy life if you don't complete your years in school. Without school, you will become dumb.
Before there was a school system where everyone went to school boys had to do whatever you father did. They learned the business from him. Women got married and took care if the house and helped with the business. Or there were no sons they married someone who could take over the business. If you think you would have all the gadgets you have now, you wouldn't, because many of the people who invented them would never have gotten the education they needed to invent them.
Actually to use a tired old cliché, "in this day and age" your question is a lot more profound than many people realize. With things changing as rapidly as they are, given technology, and other factors, I had wondered the same thing myself. (And I have been out of any form of school for a looong time.) I still believe it is necessary as a "socializing" mechanism, without which, society can become incredibly unstable, even more so than many think it may already be. School can HELP you understand THIS response a little bit better. But you may need some college for that though. (I set out educating myself, a few years ago, and though I learned MANY things that would open the eyes or even SHOCK a few with an education, i.e. PhD's Masters. etc, I sometimes wish I had a proper "guide" to help me because there are a few things I have learned, that I think I would rather NOT "know" or suspect.

Because kids like you are probably better off dropping out so "actual" smart kids can prosper while you digress and flounder in your own mediocrity and despair. oh yeah and you may need a dictionary, ya know, that big book of definitions?
Do you want to have a good life when you grow up? With enough money? Then you need a good job. And to get a good job, you need to know how to speak good English (or whatever language), how to read and how to write correctly. And how to do something that people will pay you to do. And where will you learn all these things? IN SCHOOL!
