Yes!! I'm pretty sure most girls hate it when "anyone" including boys call them that..

I actually don't hear guys say that much. I occasionally say it when I'm talking to myself haha. Then again I am a girl...

It's only offensive if you are offended by it.

I think what was offensive is you used it to describe older women. It just seemed disrespectful. You did get hit hard on that question, but it's good to see you are willing to change if you are offending others. That shows a great attitude!

Chick isn't heard much these days because it's pretty much outdated slang, like groovy. I think the reason they find it offensive is because it's often used in a chauvinistic or disrespectable context. But in my mind it's simply the female equivalence of dude.

There are worse names for sure. Don't really know where it comes from like broad; WTF is that? I have called girls chicks, but never meant it in an insulting way or refered to them as baby chickens. What do you girls like being called that is cute or endearing? Us guys say stupid crap huh?

I think it depends on the girl.... personally i don't mine as long as is is not used excessively and for all of you who think its offensive its better than the alternative (bitch, hoe, etc.)
