Do people wear warm hats in Cape Cod?

In Cape Cod on Beaches when it gets really cold, do people wear wool warm bill brim checkered plaid hats like Nathaniel Cole Crown Caps? Also, when you go to Cape Cod, do you also see a lot of "Scots-Irish" Celts wear Round Tweed Irish Patchwork Caps when they go fishing on Beaches in the Cold Weather and also in villages when they are touring at the harbor?

Fall and winter on the Cape can be wicked cold. It's not so much the temperature, but the wind. The sea breeze can whip up a wicked gale on ya in no time. And with all the salt in the air, it's like a little sandblaster on your nose and the tips of your ears.
If you hit the Cape off season you have got to bring a nice warm hat and dress in layers.
The Cape is a beautiful place, but there's really not alot to do off season. Lots of the small businesses shut down for winter. Provincetown is always nice. Stay at a nice B&B real cheap. Go antiquing. Then take a daytrip to Newport to see the mansions, and hang at a jazz club for dinner.
