There is no way to check the timing belt on a 2007 Nissan Versa without dismantling the engine. You need to remove the engines undercover so as to be able to locate the timing belt and change it in case of a problem. Therefore, if you are worried about your engine being damaged it's advisable you take your car to an expert mechanic to avoid it from being damaged.
Not sure about that car in particular but with most cars there's a cover that can be removed to show the belt. Ifs it's older and shows cracks then replace. The inspection requires some removing of parts but not like a complete tear down.
