It all depends on what you are trying to remember. If it is a vocabulary (like Spanish for example) I normally study the same word about 5 times before moving on to the next. I visualize the word, and write it down a couple of times. Otherwise, if it is for history, math, religion, science, etc...I normally just study as much as I need to.

All you need to do is to first become interested in what you're learning or studying. You also need to find a way to leverage your visual memory and associate what you're trying to study with what you already know. You also need to make sure that you are able to get sufficient sleep to merge and preserve memories.
