Types of seeds to plant this month are: beans(good for fixing nitrogen content in the soil), cucumbers, green onions, melons, okra, tomatoes(after the last freeze), and summer squash. the main thing is your soil. you want a soil heavily mixed in a wheel barrel. with humus( a brown or black substance resulting from the partial decay of plant matter. You can compost alot of kitchen scraps, start working a couple of bags of gardening soil into the first 4-6 inches of the top layer( don't mix the last 7-12 inches into the topsoil- very bad). dont' use garden soils from the "nursury". unless it has a real earthy smell. Alot of times they have high carbon content (wood chips), and no microbial action(which would eventually occur but takes forever). It (the high carbon containing soil) will leach (wash out) nitrogen( a component of plant protiens caused from microbes breaking down humus material into fertile "dirt") if you use mulch( just something to shade the soil with) it will retain water better speed up microbial process(breaking down of dirt) and stop weeds. For this you can use Leaves, dead(seedless grass it only seeds in the spring "i think". so any old grass clippings will work.
