She's not important to history of any kind in any way. Being famous is not the same as being historic, especially when half of what you are famous for is bad relationships and drug abuse. I was never much impressed with her singing, either but she didn't accomplish anything noticeable in terms of landmarks.
Jackie Robinson or James Baldwin or Paul Muni on the other hand, while also celebrities, had an impact beyond being famous. You could also say that about Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole, I suppose, in a different way.
How WAS Whitney Houston important to black history. She is dead Why does she have to be important to BLACK history?? A lot of white people loved her too. She was an incredibly talented person regardless of her skin color. She was also a drug addict. That is how she died? Maybe her legacy should let people know that drugs are stupid... they kill even the most talented and beautiful of people.
