Does anybody have any home remedies or anything on how to melt snow without using salt?

Salt is bad on concrete so I want to use something else. and forget about the remedy just a recipe is what I meant. To melt the snow and ice and where it won't freeze over?

There is salt you can buy that won't break down concrete.A friend of mine uses the ashes from his fireplace and says that works.

Throw down kitty litter or sand then if you dont wish to use salt. The kitty litter or sand will only provide traction... It will not melt the snow or ice. Salted concrete is better than falling and getting hurt.

Method One: Fight Water with Water

Step 1: Fill a pot with water
Note: Any water will do- tap water, creek water, water bottles, heck, you could even skip to just putting the snow in the pot.
Step 2: Boil the water
Step 3: Put the water in a bucket, or just leave it in the pot. Proceed outside.
Step 4: Simply fling the boiling water onto the ground. The snow will melt post-haste.

Method Two: The Airbender
-This method is simpler, but yields slower results.

Step 1: Dress yourself as if going out for a day in the snow, as this may take awhile.
Step 2: Lay down next to the snow you want to melt, keeping face close to ground.
Step 3: Simply breathe on the snow, the heat from your breath will melt the ice crystals.
*This method is best used after snow has stopped falling, as severe frustration may occur upon trying to keep up with snowfall. However, if you have a lot of time, or are really patient, or a monk, feel free to challenge yourself.

I live in Adirondacks I use a shovel to remove snow before it gets treaded into ice. sand. always pitch your walks to drain properly(pouring crete). I cut sod from side of walks to help drainage. a little summer maintenance goes a long way.
