How can I focus better?

I would like to get into reading, but my mind always wonders,so I've read half the book and I have no idea what's going on. So if you have any tips/tricks on focusing better I would appreciate it.

You have to turn off any distractions. You need to pay total attention to the book. It's not like some things where you feel like you can do 5 things at once.

These are the methods I use.
1) If you find yourself drifting out of the book, take a break and drink a glass of water, this resets and relaxes your mind.
2) Suck on a mint or chew a piece of gum while reading. It is proven that if your mouth is slightly active like this, your brain focuses in.
3) If you are having trouble remembering what you read, try and find an online quiz for this book, to see how much you have really gotten from what you read.

These are only the methods I use. Sorry if they don't work for you.

Concentrating while reading is extremely important. When you read, you have to absorb the words into your brain, and know what's happening in the book. When I read I don't think about anything, but the book. Having a quiet enviroment also helps your focus.

I like to read mostly in the evenings ! I usually read about an hour before I go to sleep ! It's easier then to keep your mind focused . A really good book helps too . I'm reading : The Third Bullet by Stephen Hunter right now . He writes great books . This one is about the killing of JFK ! The third bullet did not come from Lee Harvey Oswald's gun ! Try reading in the evening when all is quiet !

It takes time and determination to do this ... When you focus on any thing whether its reading completing a project a choir you have to picture it in your mind and say i can do this I'm going to do this and make it happen

Read a few chapters, then check sparknotes to make sure you know what's going on. If you're completely lost, read the chapters again. Rinse and repeat...

I make my own play out of what I read...ways have. I visualize everything...scenery, weather, clothing, action. Not only does that make it more interesting for me, it helps me remember what's happening. Try that .
