Does numbing cream have side effects?

And what would happen to me if I rubbed it on my arm a few minutes before getting a shot with a needle?

If you are going to get an injection of any type, you're not really supposed to be rubbing things on that area, before hand. This is because there's a chance of it actually going into your bloodstream, while putting the needle in. This is why a nurse or doctor always wipes the area clean, with rubbing alcohol before they inject you.

I deal with this almost on a daily basis. That's why some of these creams were invented. You can use it but have to clean it offf well before the injection.

You can use a numbing cream. It just has to be carefully wiped off just before the injection. Most contain lidocaine.
