The other night there was a really good question about creativity and insanity. Finally!!! There was a decent question for me to answer. I couldn't believe the lame answers I saw. I felt so sorry for the asker. She had to thank the few who took her question seriously for not being rude to her in her comments to the decent answers. There are people answering things they have no clue about and they think it's funny to post rude answers . No one is going to even ask questions anymore if this is the quality we are coming to expect. Anyway, I always try to answer my best if I can find a good question, but the problem is that most answerers only know how to answer silly questions. Something has GOT TO BE DONE or Ask will lose their best members!
The questions are not so great, and they have encouraged bad answers, I think. I can remember two questions this year I believe in which a virgin took a pregnancy test, just as an example of the nonsense. And people get too mad about an answer they don't like or that is mistaken. I mean, stuff like that just brings down the level of the conversation, in my opinion.
Questions and answers...I think everybody has their own idiotic moments but this is getting out of hand >.< someone just asked, "why didn't the giants win the Super Bowl" are you kidding me?!!!! I'm 14 and even I'm not that stupid -_-
Fortunately there are still some members who will give thought and research to answers.
But sadly, yes. There are many who will post nonsense or guesses just to "hear themselves talk." Or, they try to give cutesy answers to collect followers. Or, they try to post first to get the most stars.
What is frustrating is that stars are often received for those poor answers and reasons, thus they are encouraged to continue. Rarely do people in the community see the good answers that are posted an hour or two later. The number of stars do not always reflect the best answer.
Also sad, is the clogging of the site with "I'm bored and don't know what to ask" questions. Those push the real questions down where we can't find them.
CJ, I agree that answers are lacking, but so are the questions. I answered one today that asked how many volcanoes in Chile, that they could not find the answer. I found the info on wiki in less than 5 seconds. Did I get a thank you? No . I got "I saw that but it looked too difficult" WTF?
The other problem is that the poster does not file the Q in the correct category. Many of us filter out the categories we do not wish to answer, but if they are filed wrong, then we see them and have to weed our way through them. It gets frustrating to say the least. Yesterday there was a Q: Why are dolphins purple? Really????
Everyone, I highly encourage you to use the Report As feature at the bottom of every Question, Comment and Answer to let the moderators know when there are poor or bad answers. We can not read the thousands of pieces of content that are submitted daily, we rely on you all to inform us when something is bad. Questions like this do little good, as I can't find the items you are talking about to fix them. I need you to report them please.
There is no continuity of standard. If you call some of the teenage bad behavior you get flagged. Something that ask should be doing. Name calling is listed as a shall not be done yet is permitted. They claim no duplication of questions yet it happens within seconds.
Sometimes I forget about making sure a answer is actully helpful... Sorry... All those can be fixed though... Flag the bad ones and vote on the good ones... Ignore the rude people and comment on the helpful answers...
Hey, Cj! We're on the same page again! I have an answer--because they remove the good questions too often. I just asked about the changes to the Boy Scout Org. and they removed it. I'd like to know why, but the last time I talked to someone in Customer Service, they were very rude and condescending to me. People have commented that I haven't been around--they're right--I'm tired of having my question/comments removed for no perceptible reason, and I'm still kind of angry at the customer service person who was rude. I'm seriously thinking about finding a different site to spend my time on.
