I'm not clear on the guidelines for parenting time. I live in Michigan, do I have to let my 1 year old go for a whole weekend?

If you're referring to parenting time with your child's father/mother, you must follow the ruling of the court system. If you're required to share parenting time over the weekend you must cooperate or you'll be held in contempt of court. Besides, the other party has a right to know their child.

You can let your 1 year old child to go for a whole weekend but with immediate family members. However, this is if the child is comfortable with them because if he/she raises an alarm of discomfort to the public, it might bring you problems with the law.

if the child is 1 then I would think it can recognize the parent....unless someone has been keeping the other one away...

to be honest it grates my nerves when one parent says MY child. It is OUR child. Unless a parent is dead then they have 2 parents. Now that I have complained the court has set up a time for each parent. One parent is always going to get less time with the child. Read the papers given to you. If you fear for the safety of the child then you need to present reasons or should have to the court. If you are concerned that they will not have the same routines as you with the child then that's not a legit reason.
