My boyfriend has an imaginary character that he feels attraction to; should I feel threatened by his commitment towards me being genuine?
My boyfriend is making a comic book. There is a character he has decided to include in the story named Maria. He said he wanted to make her a likable character and gave her many features I know he is attracted to. He has put himself in the comic, and they have sort of a relationship going on. She dies later, and he avenges her death and people who have given her a bad life.
He decided on this character since before he knew me. We have been together for a year now and he says he sees a future with me, and he has decided to include me in his comic at a later time, after Maria's death.
I know I like him more than he likes me, but it's very obvious he cares about me nonetheless. Am I just overly jealous about something that is not important? This comic book is a real passion of his, so should I feel slightly threatened by his interest in her? She has his perfect taste in looks and personality, I'm certain.
Do you think he could be idolizing his fantasy in a way that may be a hindrance to his faith or loyalty in me? Is he maybe trying to find a "perfect girl," or am I reading into this way too much?
