Will forgiveness make you happier? Are you willing to forgive anything?

In general, do you think people should forgive, anything? To forgive other people or unfortunate things...and will that make you a happier person? What do you think?

Report as

Yes, when you forgive you open yourself up to receive love. If you hold in to hate and anger you will attract hate and anger.

It is less stressful and more rewarding to simply forgive, however I think some things need remembered so they don't repeat.

When you don't forgive people, no matter how big or small the offense, you become a resentful, bitter person, and let me tell you, a bitter person is no fun at all to hang around.

its always better to forgive because if you fill yourself with hatred then you will lower yourself to the person who did you wrong so if u forgive you will fill better about yourself

Don't forget, but always forgive. God forgives you for everything YOU did...why not do the same to other people? I too am in an argument with a friend..but i'm finding it no matter how hard i try not to, i feel a temptation to allow her my forgiviness, and i will, as soon as she comes up to me and gives me a heartful apology.. i'll forget the whole thing..i'll remember it but i'll leave it be

If you do not forgive someone, you give them power over you. They control your anger. And nobody wants that. Also, the same works in vice versa: if someone doesn't forgive you, they have control over your guilt, and, if they are sadistic enough, will make you do things that you would rather not.

Hatred is a poison you drink thinking it will kill the other person. Forgiving someone else is actually a gift you give yourself.

I think that forgiving will help you be a happier person. And also, yeah, I'd forgive a lot. Even murder... if it was justified. If you don't mean to kill someone, if you're truely remorsful, if you really can't live with it but manage to go on, yeah, I'll forgive them. Everyone has a reason.

It's the hardest thing to give away
And the last thing on your mind today
It always goes to those that don't deserve
It's the opposite of how you feel
When the pain they caused is just too real
It takes everything you have to say the word...
Forgiveness

It flies in the face of all your pride
It moves away the mad inside
It's always anger's own worst enemy
Even when the jury and the judge
Say you gotta right to hold a grudge
It's the whisper in your ear saying 'set it free'

Show me how to love the unlovable
Show me how to reach the unreachable
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness
It'll clear the bitterness away
It can even set a prisoner free
There is no end to what its power can do
So let it go and be amazed
By what you see through eyes of grace
The prisoner that it really frees is you

I want to finally set it free
So show me how to see what Your mercy sees
Help me now to give what You gave to me.

It's the hardest thing you'll ever do, but it will make you feel so much better. Forgiveness will set you free, but never forget, that's was keeps you safe.

take it from me its like a stone being lifted off your chest. when you harbor those thoughts even if you don't physically do anything or verbally about it it festers and your life starts evolve around that one thing or things you havent forgiven until it eats at you till you do what I did start cutting or later on I had so much fear in my heart that it started to effect raising my daughter. see I have been sexually abused 3 times the youngest when I was 5 by my grandfather and i harboured the hatred and fear til about last year when I finally decided to give it up to god. now my life feels better, I'm not getting sick anymore, I haven't had as many migraines as I did and I've been able to finally talk about it with my daughter. goodluck on your journeyn , forgiveness is tough but ask god and he will guide you through it every step of the way.

“Naturally, willingness to forgive others does not mean that you have to approve of their wrong behavior or minimize the damage it does. Forgiving, though, does mean letting go of any resentment for such wrongs and maintaining your own peace. By dwelling on negative thoughts and mulling over how badly they have been treated, some people let the behavior of others rob them of happiness. Do not let such thoughts control you. Remember that you cannot be happy when you harbor resentment.”

At Mathew 18:22 Jesus tells us to forgive Up to 77 times. He was not revering to a literal number of times, he was saying you must forgive as many times as you need to. Remember that you/we are all imperfect and sin everyday, so if we want to be forgiven for our errors we must do the same.
