It's all about carbs and the output of energy you burn from exercise. Find the book by Covert Bailey, Fit or Fat
It's the best even though more than 20 years old. Get protein but don't get carried away. Eat by a carb chart. You can find one online. Type 2 Diabetics have to follow these. It's a sure weight loss scheme and works. But you must not deviate.

They are good for you because there are no blood sugar fluctuations, therefore you feel better. Protein keeps you full longer and promotes muscles growth.

Carbs are fuel for your body. Protein builds muscle. You need both of them in moderation . A very fine line. When you have them both w/ a workout routine you will be fine. Exercise is a must!!!

The diet works and, at least for me, makes you feel energized. But you have to take vitamin and mineral suppliments to get what your body needs.
