My dog ran away and came back after a minute or two. ( Read details please)

I let my dog out to use the restroom and he saw a cat in the yard and chased it. He pushed the fence open and ran after him for a while but he was too fast so I went in to get help from my family to retrieve him, then I saw he was trying to get back in the yard. What can this mean?
He is a super hyper husky and thought I would never see him again.
Has this happened to to you?

It means your dog likes to chase cats, which is a pretty common behavior problem with huskies. You really should get him into some obedience classes to help him learn that when you call he needs to come, regardless of the cats or other things he may like to chase. Huskies really like to chase things but it is dangerous for them to do it and dangerous for the animal they are chasing.

Thanks, yeah he chases every animal he sees but I'm stumbled about the fact he came back after awhile.

Ok we had a malamute do the exact same. She saw something and just got really excited and chased it. You need something to catch his attention if something like this happens again. Like a squeaky toy or something you can shake like a bottle of rocks or something. Keep it close to the door you let him out just in case and also maybe stand by the gates door next time?
Or can even talk to him while you let him out. Keep his attention on you so if a cat or something comes by and you see you can appraise him and start playing with him so he'll ignore it.

Good thing you found him. I know I wouldn't get over it If my dog never came back.

Yes that always happens but if a dog knows that u love it and your its owner it will always come back but to stop getting it to run away u need to get a better gate or train it normally
